How To Create a Pandora Battery

By calsijnm  //  Pandora / MMS  //  6 Comments

If you have a PSP with official firmware and you want to enter the magic world of custom firmware, chances are great you need a Pandora battery. The Pandora battery can unbrick a PSP and/or put your PSP into Service Mode. This Services mode enables you to install CFW. There are several way for obtaining a Pandora Battery:

  • softmod a normal battery (requires a PSP that already has CFW)
  • hardmod a normal battery
  • buy / borrow / steal /… one

Softmodding a normal battery

This requires :

  • a normal battery (fully loaded)
  • a PSP that already has CFW and that is capable of creating a Pandora
  • the Pandora Installer software
  • a Magic Memory Stick

Make sure your PSP can create a Pandora battery. Every PSP fat and a PSP Lite with a TA085v1 motherboard can do this. More info on

To create a Magic Memory Stick (MMS) go to

How To Create a Magic Memory Stick

OK, now let's do do the hard work (ahum):

  • Download and unzip the Pandora Installer software
  • Connect your PSP to your PC and enable the USB Connection
  • Put the folder you unzipped inside X:/PSP/GAME
  • Insert your Magic Memory Stick.
  • Insert the battery you wish to "pandorize" (fully loaded!) and start your psp.
  • On your psp go to Games >> Memory Stick >> Pandora Installer for 3.XX R4b.
  • Press X and select the Battery Options.

  • Select dump battery serial to file and press X
  • Now select the option Make Battery Pandora

  • Once Pandorized (it only takes a second!) go back to the main menu.
  • Once there choose Quit.

Hardmodding a normal battery

I don't recommend doing this as if often goes wrong.

For hardmodding your battery you'll need following :

  • a safety pin / nail scissors
  • a cutter
  • (a pencil)
  • steel nerves
  • an original battery (slim or fat) see list below

If you're still certain to go on with this. Here's how it goes:

  • Use the cutter to seperate the 2 halves of the battery. Don't use too much pressure. Cut a few times on the shortest side (left side)

  • Put away the plastic casing.
  • Now we need to locate the right chip on the battery. It has the number S93c56 on it. It has the letters IC04 next to it.

SLIM BATTERY :

FAT BATTERY :

  • Cut the leg as indicated on the pictures by using nail scissors. Be very careful !
  • Put the battery back together using some tape.
  • Now you have a Pandora battery
