How To convert ISO to CSO

By calsijnm  //  ISO / CSO  //  No Comments

If you have PSP with cfw and you converted your UMD's to ISO's, you already know the advantages of ISO's. But some of those ISO's are very big in size. There is a way to compress them and make them smaller : CSO! It stands for Compressed ISO. It is a small effort with great benefits.

  • We need the tool UMDgen 4.0. Download it, extract it, start it.
  • Select the OPEN icon at the top.

  • Select the ISO file you want to compress to CSO.
  • UMDgen will show you the folders and files inside your ISO file. (For this tutorial I'll use the game "Cars")
  • At the bottom right you see the size of your ISO file.

  • Now delete the UPDATE folder. Take a look at the bottom right. Much better! Only 253Mb left!
  • Now press the button DUMMY SEARCH.

  • UMDgen will automatically delete files that are not necessary to play this CSO file.
  • Now press the SAVE button and select CSO.

  • Choose a correct filename and select 9 as compression level.

  • Press continue, wait a few moments and you're done!
  • To play your CSO, copy and paste the file to your Memory stick in the ISO folder.
